Techno-Economic Assessment of Fischer-Tropsch and Direct Methane To Methanol Processes In Modular GTL Technologies

In 2014, about 3.5% of the global gas production was flared, of which 0.289 TCF were in the US alone. This increase of natural gas flaring in the US has been exacerbated by the drilling and fracking activities in the shale gas plays. Improper flaring of natural gas leads to emissions of methane and other organic volatile compounds, sulfur oxides (SOX) and carbon dioxide (CO2). In fact, by 2020 the total gas volume flared is projected to be up to 60% greater than that in 2000, which is problematic. Thus, there is a great and pressing need for curbing or eliminating the flared natural gas and fugitive methane from remote reservoirs in order to protect the environment and avoid global warming. This study aims at investigating the potential use of the Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) synthesis process, in a microchannel reactor (MCR), and the Direct Methane to Methanol (DMTM) process in a compact plant footprint for curbing or eliminating natural gas flaring. The two processes were modeled using the process simulator Aspen HYSYS v7.2 and their operational and economic performances were evaluated in terms of the products yield, net present value (NPV), payback period (PBP) and internal rate of return (IRR). In addition, the effects of tailgas and methane recycle ratios on these process performances are investigated. The simulation results showed that the unit cost of the DMTM process was very sensitive to the methane recycle ratio, however, that of the F-T in MCR was less sensitive to the tail gas recycle ratios. In order to maintain an IRR > 10%, which is the minimal acceptable value, the tail gas recycle ratio for the F-T in MCR had to be greater than 8 and 30%, at CO conversions of 80% and 72%, respectively, whereas for the DMTM process, a minimum methane recycle ratio of 60% was required to achieve any profitability. In addition, the DMTM process appeared to have significantly higher net energy requirements per product yield when compared with those of the F-T in MCR process; however, both processes had higher energy requirements than those of conventional GTL technologies

There is global concern about the impact that ‘fake news’ has on democratic decision-making processes. Democratic decision-making needs to be well informed and voters need a minimum of confidence in the information they receive about competitors. The Internet has increased the availability of information, but has allowed new ways of manipulating it to emerge. In recent electoral experiences, social media has increased the impact of misinformation on democracy. These experiences have shown us that Internet governance during the election campaign is an urgent issue. A laissez-faire approach to the electoral process is a threat to democracy because it allows all kinds of cheating. Institutions responsible for ensuring the integrity of elections need to try democratic resources to constrain competitors to behave responsibly. It is important to know the concrete experience of a country that has suffered the attack of disinformation campaigns during an election period, studying the action of the body responsible for organizing this process. This article discusses the guarantee of the electoral process based on the case study of the 2018 Brazilian election

[EN]Under uncertainty, traditional sets may not be sufficient to represent real-world phenomena, and fuzzy sets can provide a more flexible and natural approach. The concept of fuzzy sets has been widely used in various fields, including artificial intelligence, control theory, decision-making, and pattern recognition. Fuzzy sets can also be combined with other mathematical tools, such as probability theory, to provide a more comprehensive approach to uncertainty management. In these notes, we explore the concept of fuzzy sets under uncertainty, and their applications in various fields. We discuss the fundamental concepts of fuzzy sets, including fuzzy membership functions, fuzzy operations, and fuzzy relations. We also examine different types of uncertainty, including epistemic and aleatory uncertainty, and how fuzzy sets can be used to model and manage uncertainty in these cases

The savage essence and nature of sports means those who work on it hunt for the win. The sport enterprise is undergoing a gigantic digital transformation focused on imaging, real time and data analysis employed in the competitions. Conventional process methods in sports management such as fitness and health establishments, training, growth and match or game realisation are all being revolutionized by the sport digitization. In team sports it is well known that is needful an enough and simple digital methodology to organize and construct a feasible strategy. Digitization in sports is perpetually evolving and requires pervasive challenges. The sports and athletics digitization success is based on what is being done with collection of more data. Competitive advantages go to those who produce powerful operations using the data and acting on it in real time. The potential impact of these sport features in sport team operations is powerful. Data does not ride all decisions, but it empowers knowledgeable decisions. In these world circumstances, our vision with this system was born from a dream helping soccer sport management systems embrace and improve its contest success. Our perspective problem is how a decision support system for soccer coaches helps them to take enhancement decisions better. To face this problem we have created a soccer coach decision support system. This system is organised in two joined components; the first simulates the prediction of the soccer match winner through a data driven neural network. This component output activates the second to operate the logic rules learning and provides the stats, analysis, decision making and additionally plans improvements like drills and training procedures. This helps on the preparation towards upcoming matches as well as being aligned with their style and playing concepts. Future scalability and development, will analyse the mental and moral features of the teams by virtue of their athlete’s behavior changes
